MIWAHÏMOON
A First Nations Perfume with citrus and sweetgrass

By Blue Eagle

Acouple of years ago, the ladies who work for Invocation requested that I formulate a more feminine version of Invocation’s Liquid Smudge. I had already been playing with this idea for a while, wanting to give more exposure to Sweetgrass, the most feminine of the sacred plants used by First Nation’s people. It is often called “the hair of Mother Earth”. Sweetgrass is often ritually woven into braids that resemble golden or green hair.

Traditionally, the Elders will often burn sage to chase the heavy energies and then they will burn sweetgrass to attract beneficial energies and favourable circumstances. I’ll always remember this Native American colleague whom I met at a book fair. He was sitting at a stand with his new volume that had just been published. I sat down with him for a few minutes. He loved to talk with the crowd and he had hidden a braid of sweetgrass under the table. Every time that there was less affluence, he would discretely light his braid under the table for a couple of moments. We would smell the sweet fragrance and immediately, to his joy, more people would show up taking an interest in his new work.

Invocation’s Liquid Smudge is very masculine and its purifying effect is powerful and instantaneous. It also evaporates quickly which is by design. Originally, the product was conceived for therapists who wanted to purify their workspace and the electromagnetic field around their patients, and to do this in places where traditional smudging could not be used. In fact, it is important that the fragrance evaporate fast so as not to taint the space, once purification is complete. So the energetic charge of the surrounding ambiance is “neutral”, allowing for the creation of the desired energies. The Liquid Smudge contains 2 varieties of sage and lots of thuya (Canadian Cedar) which amplifies the masculine purification qualities.

MIWAHIMOON on the other hand will remain on the skin and its beautiful scent will linger for hours. It slowly releases 3 notes, containing sweet, floral and woody scents. The topnote has a predominance of citrus (bergamot, orange, lemon, mandarin), evoking light and luminous thoughts, a enchanting heart note with a green and slightly floral bias (rosemary, basil, benzoin, vetiver, sage and lavender) and an endnote that is both woody and sweet (cistus, cedar, vanilla, sweetgrass, benzoin, oakmoss) bringing an aura of auspicious feelings. The dominant fragrance is sweetgrass.
As with all the Invocation products, it contains specific intentions that are encoded through specific rituals which I developed to amplify the properties of our products. I use this unique process in all our aromatherapy products. The encoded intentions for Miwahïmoon are: attracting beneficial energies, favourable circumstances, clarity and harmony.

There are several ways to use Miwahïmoon. It is a complement to the Liquid Smudge. Ideally, one uses Liquid Smudge a few minutes before Miwahïmoon. It is important to purify before invoking our potential to draw in favourable energies. So, waiting a few minutes between fragrances is necessary because the two have very different fragrances and they do not mix well. Then you use Miwahïmoon. The easiest way consists of vaporising on your wrists and your neck, like you would perfume. I recommend that you also put some on your palms to encourage the integration of the encoding. Personally, I also vaporise some on the back of my hand because I love to smell the scent frequently and this makes it easier. When in a group or wok session setting, vaporise 4 times in the center of the room.

While I was creating Miwahïmoon, I developped another more ritualistic way. It started as a leitmotiv, as a kind of persistent urging and it ended up as a method for the use of this new product. It is a small ritual which favourably influences and facilitates creation on all levels. Start by vaporising Invocation Liquid Smudge in the four corners of the room, if possible in the four cardinal directions starting with north, then west, south and east (counterclockwise), i.e. the opposite of the movement of the sun as well as your own energy field. Wait 10 minutes while concentrating your thoughts on the intentions you wish to generate or on what you want to create.

Then, standing in the center of the room, or at your workplace, you vaporise Miwahïmoon in all four directions going clockwise this time, starting with east, then south, west and north. You can also apply it on your wrists and neck. Next, do a slow clockwise 360°, following the path of the sun, arms outstretched in front of you, with palms up. Calmly visualise what you wish to create in your life, such as joyful circumstances, or the means to realise your projects. All the essential oils will work together in synergy and they will amplify the creative power of your thoughts. Miwahïmoon is an interesting tool to amplify your creative potential as well as being a very inspiring and pleasant olfactive companion.

This aromatic composition is 100% plant based and it contains no conservation agents or any synthetic fragrances.
