2025 / 25 years – A quarter of a century is worth celebrating…
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Invocation wishes to give thanks to the lineages of teachers who inspired Luke Blue Eagle on his spiritual path; leading him to create our precious Liquid Smudge and Sacred Essences. We want to emphasize how much we owe to our ancestors and the indigenous people of the Americas.
In our communications and on our social networks, we’ll be honouring a spiritual elder and medicine man who has been an invaluable mentor for Aigle Bleu: Sun Bear.
We will talk about our products following the Medicine Wheel, received in vision by Sun Bear, within the energies of each moon.
Chippewa medicine man Sun Bear was one of the first to share sacred native teachings around the world. First Nations prophecies, more than 500 years old before the arrival of Europeans in North America, foretold that this sharing of teachings would take place when “the eagle walked on the moon”. This is what happened when the American space shuttle Eagle 1 landed on the moon in 1969.
Another prophecy foretold that one day “a Bear would pierce the veil of the new world with his tongue”. This is what Sun Bear courageously did, transmitting to all peoples, indigenous or not, values essential to the survival of humanity: respecting Nature, living in harmony with the Earth, and honoring all our relationships with the animal, plant and mineral kingdoms.
He is the author of several books, including The Medecine Wheel, Earth Astrology. In a powerful vision, he saw people in procession, carrying stones and placing them in a circle, while a voice said, “The time has come for the medicine wheel to return.”
Thousands of medicine wheels once existed in North America. These sacred stone circles were used for healing, ceremonies and observing the stars and seasons. They were sacred places where powerful medicines were created.
Inspired by this vision, Sun Bear created an astrology based not on the stars, but on Nature: each sign corresponds to a time of year, an animal, a stone, an element and a plant, all working together to bring harmony to all our relations.
Sun Bear and Luke Blue Eagle
Sun Bear organized gatherings where large Medicine Wheels were built. These events, open to all, brought together many native elders and sages who shared their wisdom with the public.
During 1984-1990, Blue Eagle twice invited Sun Bear to teach in Quebec. He assisted him as organizer and translator.
It was with great gratitude and honor that Aigle Bleu received from Sun Bear his first personal pipe, and then, on his 2nd visit, his working pipe. By receiving this second pipe, Blue Eagle agreed to be of service to the Community at all times, which he has done ever since, with this same pipe.
Sun Bear’s Medicine Wheel vision
A symbolic representation of the Sacred Circle that encompasses the entire universe, the Medicine Wheel invites us to experience the annual cycle of the twelve moons and their totems in the different kingdoms, through the four wind directions, through the four elemental clans (those of Earth, Water, Air and Fire), always attuned to the world around us.
Each moon, like each sign of the zodiac, corresponds to powers, strengths and weaknesses embodied by an animal, a stone or a plant. Presented as an “astrology of the Earth”, The Medicine Wheel is first and foremost a teaching whose essence is that of all spiritual teachings, whatever their origin, aimed at the intelligence of the heart, its openness to the work of Creation, Harmony and Unity.
For a more playful approach, Marlise Wabun Wind (Sun Bear’s medicine helper) and Jennifer Patten (member of the Osage nation and life coach) have taken the teachings from the book Wabun Wind co-wrote with Sun Bear, in the form of oracle cards.
By letting them guide you, you’ll find balance and harmony within yourself, while connecting with Mother Earth and her different kingdoms.
