Sweetgrass is an aromatic herb with long, satiny leaves. Also known as fragrant oat, holy herb, fragrant hierochloë or fragrant coot, sweetgrass is well known for its use as a smoke purifier. As a widely used and revered sacred plant, sweetgrass is still cultivated today. This sweetgrass is harvested according to the appropriate season and with respect for nature and in a sustainable way so that, the following year, more can grow again.
Use:
Obtain a bowl or small heat-resistant container. Hold your braid in your hand and start burning the edge of the leaves with a match. Let the leaves burn for a few seconds, then shake the braid in the air to extinguish the flames so that only the smoke remains.
Caution: Incense must be used in a well-ventilated area.
Then let it burn in the chosen spot, or take it around the room with you.
If you need to extinguish the braid, smother it in sand, for example, to stop it burning.
